Given an inch you ask for a foot

"Am I giving too much?" you may ask sometimes. Is something holding you back from the life you deserve? Are your friends asking too much of you? These are questions that you may come across at a point in your life when you have not learnt to use the word "no". It may be hard to refuse someone at some point or avoid an event or occasion by saying no, but it is necessary. Overexhaustion from helping others more than yourself is not a good payback and has its toll on health and studies. Humans are quite hypocrite at times and they tend to help even when they do not want to.

When you give too much, you continue giving until nothing is left of you. The very essence which makes you you is lost through giving. Although the Buddha taught compassion, mindless giving is not a form of compassion. Real compassion is to give with thought and to be aware of its consequences. To give is to give the deserve, not the undeserving. To help is to help those who want to help themselves. When you give an inch to a someone, he may ask for a foot, and when give a foot he may ask for a mile. Do not feel too much pity towards the world that it may impede your better judgement. Look inside and cultivate self care and love. This is not selfish, this is life. To live is to endure hardships. Only until you have done your part in life will you experience happiness. So help others who only help themselves and let others care for themselves. The worries of others are trivial and not your business.
